Modaal has two plans. Free does not expire and does not require a card. Pro unlocks unlimited projects, both platforms together, and distribution to TestFlight and the App Store. There is no credit system, no per-token charge, and no trial countdown. The same plans are on modaal.dev/pricing.

What does the Free plan include?

Free is a real plan, not a preview. It has no expiry date.

What Free does not include

Three scope limits, stated plainly:
  • One active project. Finish or archive one before starting another.
  • One platform at a time. iOS or Android, not both together.
  • No TestFlight or App Store distribution. Free will take you all the way to a working native app running on your own device. Publishing it to other people is Pro.
There is no usage limit. Prompts are uncapped on Free.

What does Pro cost and unlock?

€9 per user per month, billed annually. €15 per user per month billed monthly. The same figures apply in US dollars. Everything in Free, plus:
  • Unlimited active projects
  • iOS and Android together, from one shared core — see Duet
  • TestFlight and App Store distribution
  • Git collaboration
  • Priority support
You do not need a card to start on Free. Upgrade when you actually need one of the above.

Why there is no credit system

Most tools in this category buy inference on your behalf. They bundle credits or resell tokens, so every message you send costs them money — which means free accounts have to be capped, and paid accounts have to be metered. Modaal does not buy inference. You connect an agent you already subscribe to and authenticate with your own credentials, and Modaal orchestrates it locally against Xcode on your own Mac. We are not paying for your tokens and we are not running your builds. That is why prompts are uncapped even on Free: a free user does not cost us much. The limits on Free are about scope, not about how hard you are allowed to work. See Connect your agent for the list of supported agents and how authentication works.

What else do people ask about plans and billing?

Is Free really free? Yes. No expiry, no card, no usage cap. One active project, one platform, and no store distribution. What happened to the 14-day trial? We removed it. A countdown is a poor way to get to know a tool you are still learning to build with — people would run out mid-way through forming an opinion. Free replaces it and does not expire. Do I need to pay for Claude or ChatGPT separately? To go beyond the built-in free preview agent, yes — you use a subscription you already have. Modaal adds no per-token or API cost on top of it. Can I cancel Pro and keep my apps? Yes. Your projects are ordinary native codebases on your own disk. There is no proprietary format and no export step, because the code was never anywhere else. Cancelling changes what Modaal will do for you, not what you already have. How that compares with builders that keep the code on their own servers is in what code export means across AI app builders. Do I need a Mac? Yes. Modaal builds and runs your app through Xcode, so it needs macOS with Xcode 26 or newer and around 50 GB of free space. See Set up Xcode.
